Substance Abuse Counseling - An Exploration

You may have stumbled upon this page at the urging of a loved one or doctor. Perhaps you’ve had your own concerns about your substance use. In my office I provide a non-judgemental space for you to explore your relationship with drugs and alcohol and make well informed intentional decisions. There can often be much fear when seeking support of this nature. I have years of experience working with a wide range of individuals, from those looking for help in reaching the goal of abstinence to those who are ambivalent about their drinking or drug use. Either way I can help you find clarity and meet you where you are today.

Early Recovery

Finding a therapist that understands the challenges of early recovery can be  difficult. I am intimately familiar with the complexity of being in early recovery and offer a supportive environment where you can explore what you want your recovery to look like while simultaneously addressing any underlying concerns like depression, anxiety, or trauma. In addition, I am familiar with the structure of Intensive Outpatient and Residential treatment programs and am able to collaborate with other treatment professionals who are apart of your team. I’ve walked my own recovery journey and am very familiar with support groups such as 12-step and Smart Recovery.

Support for Parents and Families

If you’re reading this section of my website it’s likely you’re worried about a child or a loved one who is struggling with substance abuse or addiction. You might be at your wits end, unsure of where to go next. Maybe your loved one is in treatment, or maybe you don’t know how to help the person you care about. I’ve worked with a wide range of families, parents, and individuals struggling with substance abuse over the past ten years. I know that parents and loved ones can often get left behind in the treatment process. Parents and families that come into my office are often asking, “what about me? What kind of support do I get through this process?” Through parenting and family support I offer compassionate coaching where I help you dial in your self care, set effective boundaries with your loved one, and even connect you to treatment resources.
